James Brown & Sons Community Fund Supports Four Local Projects Across East Belfast

Four community organisations delivering inspiring local projects across East Belfast have been awarded funding through the latest round of the James Brown & Sons Community Fund.

The fund, established to support grassroots groups and charities making a positive difference in their local communities, will help deliver projects focused on food support, youth engagement, community wellbeing and bringing people together through shared experiences.

Among this year’s recipients is In This Together, a charity James Brown & Sons has proudly supported previously through the Community Fund. Funding will help continue its “Fill our Fridge” campaign, providing affordable essential food items through its social supermarket and supporting more than 1,200 households across the community. The project helps families access everyday essentials while making household budgets go further during a challenging economic climate.

Funding has also been awarded to EastSide Learning for its Carew Community Project at Carew Family Centre. The initiative will bring local families together to create a collaborative piece of artwork that reflects the people, stories and experiences of the community. The artwork will form part of wider improvements to the centre and provide a lasting legacy created by those who use it.

The Suitcase Project has received support for its new Men’s Space programme, which aims to bring together local and migrant men through practical activities, skills development and community projects. The initiative will create opportunities for participants to build friendships, reduce isolation and contribute positively to life in East Belfast.

Meanwhile, Tullycarnet Neighbourhood Collective will use its funding to deliver “Half Term Hangout: Happy, Healthy and Connected”, providing young people with a range of engaging activities during the October school holidays. The programme includes outdoor learning experiences, environmental activities and creative workshops designed to promote wellbeing, confidence and social connection.

James Brown from James Brown & Sons said:

“We are delighted to support these fantastic organisations and the important work they do within our local communities. Each project addresses a different community need, but they all share a commitment to improving lives, creating opportunities and bringing people together. We are especially pleased to continue our support of In This Together and to see the lasting impact that previous funding has helped to achieve.”

The James Brown & Sons Community Fund forms part of the funeral home’s ongoing commitment to supporting the communities it has served for generations, helping local groups create positive and lasting change where it is needed most.
